openXDA

The openXDA (eXtensible Disturbance Analytics) application automatically discovers, parses, analyzes and saves both raw data and analytic results from data captured from DFRs, power quality monitors, relays, and other substation devices. openXDA can also connect to other enterprise level data sources, such as work management systems (MAXIMO), real time lightning data feeds, and GIS systems.

openXDA runs as a back-office service watching for new event or interval data files in both industry standard (COMTRADE and PQDIF) and vendor-specific file formats. After analyzing the data in these files, openXDA produces emails and raises alarms based on meter data quality and/or the nature of the system event that triggered the substation device. Among the automated analytics included in openXDA are single and doubled-ended fault location, assignment of likely fault cause, and breaker timing.

openXDA Enterprise Edition

openXDA Enterprise Edition extends openXDA's functionality to include additional waveform data analytics and notification systems. In addition to the features available in openXDA, oepnXDA EE includes GPA's enterprise notification system. This allows the system to send out email and text message notifications on various events, as well as scheduled summary notifications indicating frequency and ooccurance of various events.

For large infrastructures, openXDA EE also includes two major additional features:

  • The ability to run as a multi-node system for high-availabilty and to distribute the work load horizontally.
  • The ability to allow users to self-subscribe to various notifications. This includes custom restrictions related to job title changes, department changes and approval requirments for sensitive notifications.
