value String: Source string to convert to type.
type Type: Type to convert string to.

Object
String converted to specified Type; default value of specified type if conversion fails.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type String. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. For more information, see Extension Methods (Visual Basic) or Extension Methods (C# Programming Guide).

Remarks

This function makes use of a TypeConverter to convert this String to the specified type, the best way to make sure value can be converted back to its original type is to use the same TypeConverter to convert the original object to a String; see the TypeConvertToString(Object) method for an easy way to do this.
